History

The Westaim Corporation has been publicly traded since 1996. The Company invests, directly and indirectly, through acquisitions, joint ventures and other arrangements, with the objective of providing its shareholders with capital appreciation and real wealth preservation. Westaim holds a 75 per cent interest in NUCRYST Pharmaceuticals Corp. (NASDAQ: NCST; TSX: NCS). Westaim's common shares are listed on The Toronto Stock Exchange under the trading symbol WED.

In 2005, NUCRYST Pharmaceuticals completed an Initial Public Offering of its common shares. NUCRYST shares are traded on NASDAQ under the symbol NCST and on the TSX under the symbol NCS. The Westaim Corporation continues to be a majority shareholder in NUCRYST.
