Westaim Biomedical adds regulatory affairs and marketing expertise |

EXETER, NEW HAMPSHIRE, U.S.A. - Dr. Michael Raymont, President of Westaim Biomedical Corp., today announced the appointment of Sally Maher as Director, Regulatory and Quality Affairs, and Michael Mancini as Director, Product Marketing.
Ms. Maher will have responsibility for Westaim Biomedical’s regulatory and quality activities, including all U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) submissions, approvals, label claims etc., and all quality systems and processes.
With a background in microbiology, Ms. Maher is a regulatory affairs attorney with extensive experience in pharmaceutical, device and biotechnology regulations. Prior to joining Westaim Biomedical she was Director, Regulatory Affairs for Johnson and Johnson Professional, Inc., a division of Johnson & Johnson, Assistant Director Corporate Regulatory and Governmental Affairs for Pfizer Hospital Products Group, and was a Legislative Analyst and a Regulatory Counsel for the FDA.
Mr. Mancini will lead Westaim Biomedical’s marketing team with an immediate focus on establishing Acticoat(TM) antimicrobial barrier as the dominant burn treatment product in the in-patient burn treatment centers. He will also be responsible for analyzing new market opportunities for Westaim Biomedical’s Acticoat(TM) technology and developing launch plans for new products.
Mr. Mancini has had roles of increasing responsibility both in sales and marketing, and, before joining Westaim Biomedical, was Vice President of Global Marketing, Scientific Division, with Steris Corporation (formerly AMSCO International). Prior to working at Steris, Mr. Mancini was with Kendall Healthcare Products Company, where he managed sales in the wound care and critical care divisions.
“The addition of Ms. Maher and Mr. Mancini gives us experienced leadership in critical functional areas as we increase our market share in the burn market and gear up for launching new products in other larger wound care markets,” said Dr. Raymont.
Westaim Biomedical Corp. has patented a biomedical coating technology, Acticoat(TM), which, in its first product embodiments, helps fight serious antibiotic resistant organisms and other infections in burns and other wounds.
