SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA, U.S.A. - Savvion, an innovative global provider of Internet-deployed business management solutions, today announced major enhancements to its flagship product, Savvion BusinessManagerTM with the release of Version 2.0. The new features let corporate managers quickly transform business processes into flexible, distributed Web applications. The business processes performed by these applications are analyzed, monitored in real time and controlled dynamically, in response to changing business conditions.
The Westaim Corporation holds a 22 per cent equity interest in Savvion, formerly Technology Deployment International.
BusinessManager 2.0 provides significant enhancements, making it even easier for customers to turn business processes into managed e-business applications. Customers use BusinessManager’s powerful, easy-to-use GUI to develop applications, involving both people and existing applications that are deployed over intranets and extranets. Extended enterprises of customers, suppliers, partners, and employees then access the applications from any location through a Web portal using either conventional PC browsers or wireless devices such as Palm Pilots or Web-enabled cell phones. Managers monitor and analyze the automated processes in real time using a similar portal, providing complete visibility and control over their entire e-business operations.
“The Internet has fundamentally changed the concept of business process management, moving beyond computer-to-computer systems to include the critical human element of customer, supplier, and employee,” said Dr. Ketabchi, Savvion founder and CEO. “BusinessManager lets companies create automated e-business applications that enable managers to monitor business processes in real time and reassign resources or modify processes as conditions change.”
BusinessManager 2.0 includes a completely new component that allows steps in a business process to be personal workflows running on the Web browser. These workflows maintain the complex user interactions within the work step without complicating the business processes of the extended enterprises. Additionally, Version 2.0 provides new capabilities and features to improve e-business management and further ease application development:
Improved E-Business Management
Enhanced management capabilities to let managers proactively control and manage e-business processes
Enhanced query and reporting features to better analyze e-business operations
A new administration portal for re-configuring BusinessManager, for managing users, and for managing applications
Enhanced Application Development
BizLogic Designer enhanced with improved performance, usability, and functionality
Seamlessly integrated business process and business rule engines, providing a single development environment
A simplified rule browser and editor to speed business rule authoring and modification
Template generator to further simplify the development of customized interfaces and integration with external processes
Customizable operations portal interface
Improved document handling for seamless routing and editing
Enhanced business intelligence repository based on a persistent event model to improve system reliability and performance
Support for JavaScript, simplifying creation of business logic
Extended OS and DBMS compatibility
Savvion has also partnered with Active Software to speed integration of customers’ existing computer systems into BusinessManager applications. Savvion customers will be able to use Active adapters to rapidly integrate leading enterprise applications, such as PeopleSoft, SAP and Siebel.
“BusinessManager 2.0 greatly simplifies application development and improves real-time management of the automated business processes,” Ketabchi added. “Offering significant cost savings and operational efficiencies, Savvion will continue to drive innovation in the industry in the area of automating and managing business processes across the extended enterprise.”
