Integration of Savvion BusinessManagerTM with BEA WebLogic Server Lets Non-Experts Define, Integrate and Deploy Business Process Applications Faster and for Less

SANTA CLARA, CALIFORNIA, U.S.A.
SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA, U.S.A. - Savvion, Inc., a global provider of innovative business process management solutions, today announced the integration of Savvion BusinessManagerTM with BEA WebLogic® Server from BEA Systems, Inc., (Nasdaq: BEAS), one of the world’s leading e-business infrastructure software companies. In addition, Savvion has integrated its wireless framework with BEA WebLogic Server – the number one Java application server– so customers can use Web-enabled wireless devices, as well as traditional PC browsers, to access e-business services.

The Westaim Corporation holds a 22 per cent equity interest in Savvion.

“This integration is of the most interest to our customers who need to provide instant and reliable access to Internet and intranet applications to potentially unlimited numbers of customers,” said John Kiger, director of product marketing, BEA E-Commerce Server Division. “The BEA WebLogic E-Business PlatformTM provides the infrastructure to help future-proof e-business applications with the necessary scalability and adaptability, and the Savvion wireless framework complements the BEA platform by wireless-enabling existing business applications and extending them to the mobile workforce.”

Savvion BusinessManager’s mobile application development environment has been integrated with the award-winning BEA WebLogic E-Business Platform to provide mutual customers with a single, uniform set of services that span the entire range of business process automation for mobile applications, from the initial definition of the process to enterprise-wide deployment. Since Savvion’s object-oriented software is geared toward non-technical business analysts rather than high-level programmers, a wide range of people can quickly define and create custom applications that make existing business processes available to mobile users.
For example, using Savvion BusinessManager, field service personnel can create a mobile application capturing a customer problem report that resides on a BEA WebLogic Server Web page. The customer record is pulled from a database and a field service technician is dispatched with the assignment details delivered on a Web-enabled mobile device such as a wireless PalmTM.

With Savvion BusinessManager the result is faster development and deployment of wireless applications, streamlined business processes, and more efficient use of both business and IT personnel.
“BusinessManager is gaining fast acceptance as leading e-businesses recognize the value of rapidly deploying a suite of applications that automate and streamline basic business processes, which can save corporations thousands if not millions of dollars,” said Dr. Ketabchi, Savvion, Inc. founder and CEO. “Our work with BEA to integrate Savvion BusinessManager with BEA WebLogic Server means customers can now run our innovative business process management solutions on BEA’s powerhouse application server to create a high-end system that supports, refines and automates key business processes in a mobile environment.”
