CALGARY, ALBERTA, CANADA – The Westaim Corporation announced today that for the first quarter ended March 31, 2002, it recorded a net loss of $8.4 million, or 11 cents per share, on revenues of $14.3 million. In the same quarter last year, the company recorded a net loss of $8.0 million, or 10 cents per share, on revenues of $21.1 million.
At March 31, 2002, Westaim had $126.2 million in cash and short-term investments, and no debt.
